The story behind our About Us begins in 2014, when the boAt founders, Sameer Mehta & Aman Gupta Boat Co-founder, noticed a common problem. Most charging cables available in the market were fragile and stopped working quickly.
They believed that everyday tech products should be durable, stylish, and affordable. With an initial investment of ₹30 lakh, the founders launched rugged charging cables and chargers designed to last longer than traditional accessories.
What started as a small bootstrap venture soon gained attention. Consumers appreciated reliable products with modern design, and the brand quickly grew within the Indian audio tech brand industry.
As demand increased, boAt expanded its product portfolio beyond cables. The company introduced headphones, earphones, speakers, smartwatches, and wearable devices. This expansion helped the brand become one of the fastest-growing consumer technology companies in India.
Today, boAt operates under its parent company, Imagine Marketing Ltd., and continues to build products that combine performance, style, and accessibility. Over the years, the brand has also built a loyal community known as “boAtheads.”

2014-16
The company began as a bootstrap startup, focusing on durable charging cables and chargers that addressed everyday consumer problems.
2018-20
boAt secured investments from Fireside Ventures, InnoVen Capital, and Navi Technologies. During this period, the brand expanded its product portfolio and reached over 800,000 customers.
2021-22
After raising $100 million in a Series B funding round and receiving investment from Qualcomm Ventures, boAt became the world’s second-largest wearable brand.
2022-24
The company partnered with Dolby to launch the world’s first Dolby-powered neckband and introduced stanceOS for smartwatches. Employee stock options worth ₹72 crore were also approved.
2025-26
Imagine Marketing Ltd., the parent company behind boAt, postponed its planned IPO while continuing to strengthen its product portfolio and market presence.
